e-ROC Auction Results

The latest e-ROC Auction of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) was completed today, 7 April 2009, with over 148,000 (including approximately 7000 co-fired ROCs) being purchased.

The average price was £52.65. (The average price in the last auction held in January was £51.81).

The next auction will be held 7th July 2009.

Renewables Obligation

For the period: 1st April 2009 to 31st March 2010, the obligation on electricty suppliers is 9.7% and the Buy-Out Price per MWh is £37.19

Sale & Buy-Back Agreements

From 1st April 2007, a generator will not need to have a Sale & Buy-back agreement with a supplier in order to receive ROCs for electricity he generates and consumes on site. This change will benefit those generators who wish to sell ROCs using e-ROC auctions.

From 1st April 2006, the limit on the number of Co-Fired ROCs that can be submitted by a Supplier, to discharge its obligation is reduced from 25% to 10%.

For the period: 1st April 2006 to 31st March 2007, the Buy-Out Price per MWh is £33.24, and for the period 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2008 the Buy-Out price will be £34.30

The 2006 Renewables Obligation Order changes the "Specified Day" to 1st September.
