Quarter of a million ROCs sold!

The latest e-ROC auction of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) was completed today 24th June 2010 with 243,412 ROCs being purchased.

The average price achieved was £49.16, on a par with the £49.24 price from the last auction held in March.

This auction sold the largest quantity of ROCs since 2006 and was the second largest auction since NFPAS began ROC auctions eight years ago.

Several new buyers and sellers took part in this auction.

The next auction will take place on Tuesday 28th September and will be the first chance to buy and sell CP9 ROCs.

Renewables Obligation

For the period: 1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011, the obligation on electricty suppliers is 10.4% and the Buy-Out Price per MWh is £36.99.

Sale & Buy-Back Agreements

From 1st April 2007, a generator will not need to have a Sale & Buy-back agreement with a supplier in order to receive ROCs for electricity he generates and consumes on site. This change will benefit those generators who wish to sell ROCs using e-ROC auctions.
